Wedding Vendors Call to Action

Thank you Crown Photography, McKnight Video and Bailey Connor Catering for already signing up!

To everyone in the industry please accept this letter as our request for your help in granting the wish of a very special 15-year-old girl in your area with a life threatening illness. Gabriela’s only wish is for a “Sweet 16” party with an Egyptian theme for about 100 people! We would like to have her party on December 1st and are hoping that you will be able to help us coordinate the event by referring some vendors who would be kind enough to donate their goods and services. Right now, our priority is the venue and décor. We would also need to secure finger foods, non alcoholic beverages, a cake, entertainment, photographer, etc. We are trying to make this party as special as possible for Gabby and we would be grateful for any assistance or ideas you may have. Of course anyone who is kind enough to help out will be included in the press release and we will be glad to link them to our website.

Gabriela is a sweet girl who suffers from sickle cell disease. This is an extremely difficult disease to manage and one that is tremendously painful to live with. Sickle cell is a condition in which the red blood cells created in the bone marrow produce an abnormal form of hemoglobin that can’t reach the body’s tissues. Those suffering with this disease experience severe episodes of pain and eventual organ damage; they are also at high risk for stroke and cardiac arrest. Gabriela has been in and out of the hospital most of her young life. For her most severe pain crises, she must endure intravenous treatments.

Despite all the difficulties she has faced in her young life, Gabriela remains true to her spirit. A bright girl, she most enjoys her science class at school. In her spare time, Gabriela loves spending time with her friends and watching television. She’s crazy about the color blue and says her favorite food is spaghetti. This incredibly special girl has long dreamed of her 16th birthday and how special she would like it to be. Unfortunately, the family has experienced financial hardships due to Gabriela’s many hospitalizations and medical bills. This is why it is so important to us to help make her one dream come true! We hope you can help us do just that!

Kids Wish Network is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization dedicated to granting the wishes of children between the ages of three and eighteen who are living with life threatening illnesses. It is our mission to fulfill the last wishes of children who will never have the opportunities that most of us take for granted.

Please let me know of any creative ideas you may have to make this wish even more special. We may not be able to change Gabriela’s uncertain future, but together we can make her dream come true. We hope you will consider our mission worthy of your support and Gabriela’s only wish deserving of your participation. If you need any further information, please do not hesitate to contact me. You can reach Kids Wish Network at 888-918-9004, or me at 713-861-0101. You can also visit Gabriela on our website at www.kidswishnetwork.org Thanks so very much!

7-07-2007

July 07, 2007 has now passed, being the biggest wedding day of the year! Everyone scrambled to have three lucky 7's as their wedding date. I hope they all beat the rain :)

For as long as weddings have been around, people have tried to bring luck into their marriages from the beginning. Some people place a six-pence in their shoes. Many brides still follow the something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue trend. Rain on your wedding day is supposed to be good luck as well, it means lots of money or children - not both.

Only time will tell how are lucky couples do with their 7-07-2007 date. Good luck and a happily ever after to everyone.

En Vogue to Work with FIRST

En Vogue Events and FIRST just agreed to work together in April for the FIRST competition.

FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) is a unique varsity sport of the mind designed to help high-school-aged young people discover how interesting and rewarding the life of engineers and researchers can be.

The FIRST Robotics Competition challenges teams of young people and their mentors to solve a common problem in a six-week timeframe using a standard "kit of parts" and a common set of rules. Teams build robots from the parts and enter them in a series of competitions designed by Dean Kamen, Dr. Woodie Flowers, and a committee of engineers and other professionals.

FIRST will be holding one of its competitions in Reliant this April in Houston.
